So you bought your domain name... what's next? Lots. Your website is one of the first stops a potential customer will make... To check you out and assess if you are a likely candidate for them. So don't take it lightly. Below are some of our thoughts from our Forum.

Is your website a selling tool? Welcome to the conceptual website!
SEO - What is that? Google ranking is free. Never pay for good ranking.
Your website is not updated, expect your potential customers to shun you.
  Choose your domain name C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y
The weakest link in your namecard. Is it your web address?
What to do with the namecards you get after an unsuccessful sales pitch?
Where to host your website? Don't look at the price
Going overseas for an exhibition? How to use GoogleAd.

Flash with php. Getting interactive and dynamic sites

Create your own websites? Hey, it's the 21st century. man!

What's wrong with Joomla-type sites? Ah, can you keep up with their updates?

What's wrong with whole-site in Flash websites? Depends on your business

Keep your websites concept-focused

Mass email marketing. The forgotten tool to charm your potential customers

Website is about communication. Not technologies

What is the advantage in using PHP Object-oriented framework in site building?

E-commerce - prepare to fail if you start a business purely on that platform
Before you think of e-commerce. Think of your refund policy and procedures

We have just helped our client launched their corporate website. View it at compressor.kulthorn.com . This site is a challenge because it encompasses an Advanced Product Search that finds product and categories, show product photos and export into a portable Acrobat format for easy emailing. It will integrates Adobe Flash animation into the menu.

Bravo! Our client's site at http://www.fhi.hk is up and running. This site has a video section and a Photo Gallery. It is a charity organization in Hongkong doing volunteer work for Myanmar and Tibet.

Jim Ho from Fast Forwarding couldn't find his website listed in Google (or any search engines) 3 months ago. Not anymore! His website ( www.dglogisticsthai.com ) is listed Number 1, 3, 7 by Google (depending on keywords). This is possible because we created the website using SEO-friendly construction methods. We do not think existing websites can be "SEOed" because real advantages are only scored when you have an excellent web structure and construction. It is like trying to build a 22-storey building using an existing 2-storey foundation.

We have been awarded the contract to build a membership-driven website for Singapore-Thai Chamber of Commerce (www.singaporethaicc.or.th). This website will enable members to book events from the website, administrator to monitor event participations, and company members to edit their own profile and their representatives' details. Look out for it when it is launched later this month.

Have just completed the website programming for Zion Church in Singapore. Do visit the site at http://www.zionchurchsg.com . We have not put content in yet, so it is like a completed house with no furniture and beds yet. Still, view it for the design, ok?

Check out the industrial website we just finished at http://www.peaksthai.com. Colourful and exciting in terms of presentation, this is testimony that industrial sites need not be boring.

We have just been awarded a corporate website for an accounting outsourcing company. The approach is hilarious, light-hearted as opposed to most accounting companies' websites so as to appeal to owner-decison-maker type of clienteles. The site is at http://www.adminoutsourcing.com .

Lakemanager.com has just awarded us the contract to build a sophisticated yet fun website to showcase the benefits of using their device to clean lakes and ponds. This device is great for golf courses and private homes.

Looks like the world is falling apart with all the corporate failures in America and Europe. For the rest of us who run our small to medium sized businesses, what is our response? I would like to suggest that your marketing has to be MORE aggressive (not less). One of the things you might have been neglecting is a professional and international website - don't neglect that anymore. You'll need it to win the war this time! So you'll need to pull out all stops you have - you can't say the website is not important anymore - 'cost every bit counts, and every dollar in sales count.

Centre for Architecture & Human Rights is a movement about the rights of common people to their community welbeing. we have started a long-term working relationship to build their website and market their cause through this medium. Have a Happy and Prosperous Lunar New Year! Seems like everyone is heading home for their reunion dinner. The culture of the Chinese is that family is the binding force of society, so even though work brings us away from each other, the family will come back to home town for this special occasion to celebrate and touch base.

13th February 2009
We have launched a new website at
http://www.smsGolfscore.com . This site allows a golfer to submit his score via sms. The submitted score will be "injected" into the site database for calculation of handicap, green in regulation, putts per rounds and other interesting golfing statistics. The revenue-generating model of this site is advertising through the email sent to golfer when a score is recorded, and the weekly game analysis sent to golfer's email. Check it out, and if you play golfer, register for free!

Finally,
http://www.lakemanager.com is completed. It is an animation of how a lake becomes deoxygenated and green to algae, and how the Aquaject is able to return the lake to its glorious beauty. The animation is frame-by-frame created; each second in the animation is about 25 frames (or 25 slightly different illustrations). It took the artist 2 months of work to create the movement to the satisfaction of the customer. Another point of interest worth looking at in this website is the use of "Flash encapsulated video". The VIDEO of the lake is edited and placed into flash, reducing the size of the play to a fraction of the original video in terms of megabyte. Among the designers in the agency, this is a favourite website. It is also created for our favourite client, James Scheumacher, from America.

Automotive tyres and wheels have been my fascination since I started working in Thailand. We started working on a local brand called "Deestone" creating catalogues and photographing the 1,000 over tyres from golf trolley tiny ones to the truck-sized wheels they called radial tyres. Then, we moved on the their websites. So when we got to know that Stamford wheels in Suphanburi needs a website, I got excited. These round, shiny alloy structures that look so sexy in rich black background... Ferraris look so admirable in those sleek alloy wheels designed by the best USA design houses and produced by one of the best technologies from Singapore. The result is an elegant yet stunning website at
http://www.stamfordwheels.com which is also an interest from a programming point of view; the dropdown select function is drawn from the database, not from a pre-programmed html code. This means that the dropdown list is editable as new products are added and old products are deleted from the backend module. This is a function we have used in many projects before, but I never wrote about it here in this news pages. It is an important aspect of website designing for manufacturing companies which many corporate managers overlook in favour of simple cost-savings.

6th March 2009
We have completed the CAHR project with our clients saying, "Thank you, thank you, thank you". It is our pride to make our clients happier than they earlier thought they will be. This "under-promise, over-deliver" axiom is what I learn from BNI (see
http://www.businessnetworkingthailand.com). Anyway, the website for CAHR is at http://www.architecture-humanrights.org . The interesting point about the site is that it has a Paypal donate function - ah, so what so great about the Paypal function, you may ask? Well, the client wants have a Paypal account based in Canada as Thailand is infamously known for frauds with Paypal and often freeze funds temporary to check for frauds. So we went ahead with starting a Paypal with a Canadian address. The Business Paypal we started has to register a credit card for it to start accepting cash payments from the website directly; the rule also requires our client to charge a $1 amount through the system for the account to kick-start. So here is the funny part. It requires a CODE from the credit card statement accompanying the $1 charge to be fed back into the Paypal account, so my client has to call his mum in Canada in the middle of the night to have her open his credit card statement to read off the code to him. naturally, she struggled as the code characters are tiny-winy small. After we got the code, we fed it into the system to activate it. So much for globalization.

Check out a beautiful website at
http://www.esensw.com. This website is done for a client based in Vietnam for the Indochina market and is based on Flash with Actionscript and php/ MySQL. It is a hospitality industry website with elegance and simplicity as the basis of its style. The "me" element is strong and the design structure was suggested by the client who are from South Africa.

Genius has just been awarded a project to build 3 websites on health. Health is the final frontier of life, and inspite of a recession looming ahead, the health sector is till very healthy. 23th March 2009
We have come up with a new product called "Video e-newsletter". As the name suggests, this is a e-newsletter that contains a video clip (about 15 seconds). In fact, it is a mini-TV commercial that sells your unique selling proposition. To experience it click to see e-newsletter:

We are working on a Health-Wellness-Beauty search directory website for Bangkok, Thailand market. The website is targetted at expatriates who are living and working in Bangkok. We are actively working with a MLM organization to build a website that works like "Facebook". Each member in the organization will have their own homepage, own products, own photo gallery to market their business proposition. Another organization is a Chinese clan association who want to promote networking amongst Thai Chinese who have the same surname. Each member will also have their own homepage, own products and contact details. The programming has some similarity but the application in the market is very different.

11th May 2009
We are moving into Malaysia with some indication of interest for our Video e-newsletter and CMS system. Kuala Lumpur is a market of nostalgia for me as I have worked there many years ago. Coming back to the city reminds me of those days. KL is full of vibrance and energy. It seems like this is the decase of Asia truly!
