| Tricks & Pitfalls of Web Marketing |
So you are using the web to spread the seeds of your business. But is having a beautiful website good enough? Here are ten pointers and thoughts. Sleep on it!
|
| |
- Is your website a rich web of information? Is it linked like a spider web to other websites in your industry?
- Is the structure of your website accessible to search engines like Google or Yahoo? As a rule, Flash, Frames and some fancy menu buttons block your site from being ranked by Google or Yahoo. Be careful.
- Say, your site is www.abcde.com and you sell orange, you searched in Google search box, typing in “abcde.com” and you find your site. Does this mean your site is visible to all your potential customers? Answer is no because if you search “orange”, you wouldn’t find your site ranked anywhere on the top.
- Are web domain names the shorter the better? No, in effect, the longer the better. Surprise?
- Is buying clicks the only way to climb the Google or Yahoo rank? Not the only way. It is one way. But there is a better… a far smarter way!
- Google loves websites with a lot of words. Your site has a lot of words, but Google can’t see them. Why? (that’s why you are never ranked high by them!)
- Your site has a database. This is a dangerous problem in Google language. Why?
- If you photographs in your website is heavier than 100 kB, your site is bad for your readers. Do you know why?
- Your website is done by your friend/ son/daughter. Is it good enough? Most likely not. In fact, you are making the biggest mistake in web marketing.
- You are going for an exhibition next week. How can you get important leads and list of potential customers using web marketing without spending more than US$20 per day?

If you cannot answer the above questions without a stone in your throat, maybe you need help in building a marketing-smart website. |
